Setup Free 30-Day QuickBooks File to Practice With 605

QuickBooks Online 2021 set up free 30 day QuickBooks trial to practice with, let’s get into it with Intuit QuickBooks Online 2021. Here we are in the Intuit website@intuit.com. That’s intuit.com. We’re looking for the QuickBooks. So I’m going to go to the QuickBooks tab up top. And then we’re looking for the QuickBooks Online. There are various different types of QuickBooks products to get into it, I typically go all the way down to the bottom here, where we can see the products on the left hand side, QuickBooks Online being the first one

00:34

I’m going to be selecting, then the QuickBooks Online, looking to set up a free 30 day trial practice account so that we can practice our account numbers with it. So we have this item down here where we have this toggle in order to get the free 30 day trial you want to toggle this on. So we have the free 30 day trial available. It’s kind of scary to do that, because you’ll see the prices jump up down here when you do that, because there’s an option to take the free 30 day trial or have the discounted period. But it’s quite likely that you can get a discount possibly from your CPA or your accountant as well, if you were to ask them.

01:10

So you might want to try the 30 day trial to practice with to work a practice problem or to start your file with and then see if you can get a discount possibly from your accountant or something like that. So that you can test it out before you purchase it. So I’m going to go for the free 30 day trial here, I’m going to select the plus versions, we want to go to the plus version, it says 75. But I’m hoping we get that that 30 day thing here. So $70 a month.

01:39

But then it says underneath it free trial excludes discount. So it excludes the discount, because we got the free trial instead. But again, hopefully, if you want to keep the product, you can still you know manage to get a discount, possibly look around and get the discount. So but right now we want the free trial, it also adds on to the payroll with the free trial as well, which is usually an add on feature. So I’m going to check out and I don’t believe you know, we shouldn’t need a credit card or anything like that it should be a free 30 day trial.

02:09

So hopefully, we will not be paying the 145 a month, we’re just looking for the 30 day trial here, then we would sign up for an account if we do not have an account or you would log in your information. If you do have the account. Now then at some point, you might have something pop up here that says skip the trial and save today, once again, trying to get you to purchase at the discounted amount here. But we want the free trial. So make sure you do the non bright green button down here, which is continue with the free trial with the trial, not the pain, not the pain one.

02:40

Then it says welcome. We’re glad you’re here. And so we’re glad to so here’s what we’ll do what we’ll do together right now. So tell us what you need. We’ll personalize QuickBooks and make recommendations based on your needs. We’ll bring in your transactions and organize your money. So I’m going to say all right, let’s do that legal name. I’m going to say this is for accounts numbers. That’s going to be our practice file for account numbers. I use QuickBooks desktop and want to bring in my data. No, we’re not going to bring any data from QuickBooks desktop here. So we’re going to start a new fresh company file. We’ll say next.

03:17

What’s your role at account numbers? Were customized QuickBooks based on your answer. So the owner, the employee bookkeeper, I’m going to say owner here and we’ll say next. And then if you have an accountant or bookkeeper, you can invite them to join QuickBooks. So do you have one? I’m going to say? No, I’m doing it myself doing it myself. And we’re gonna say next. So who helps you run your business help us understand who is a part of your team, Select all that apply? I fly solo, we’ll go with that here. employees, contractors, we might have contractors, employees, other partners, and then I plan to hire in the future.

03:58

We’ll keep it there. Next. What do you do today? So what’s gonna, what’s gonna, what do we do set up QuickBooks to start using right away explore QuickBooks before I set it up, so we’re going to go ahead and set it up. So let’s set it up. Link your accounts and see everything in one place, QuickBooks will automatically bring in transactions and save hours of manual entry, securely link your bank or credit card, select the accounts you’d like to bring in, see what your cash flow looks like. I’m not going to link any accounts at this point in time. So I’m going to skip this for now.

04:35

We can always set that up later if we so choose. What kind of business is this? Tell us about your business structure? We use this to help categorize your transactions were a sole proprietorship that’s the type of business entity we’re gonna say. Meaning we basically file a Schedule C on our 1040 with regards to taxation, we’re gonna say then next, once again, how does your business make Money, we tailor your accounting category based on your answers, Select all that apply. So the accounting categories are basically the account numbers, right?

05:10

So they’re going to help us to generate our chart of accounts. So I provide services, I sell products, something else, let’s go to the selling of the products that’ll help us when they make the chart of accounts to include things like sales cost of goods sold, possibly inventory, when they create the chart of accounts that we’ll start off with. I’m going to say next, once again, what does your business do? Start typing and select the option that fits. I’m going to go with all other miscellaneous store retailers so that we can possibly be dealing with inventory once again, when they set up our chart of accounts. And this will help you with your chart of accounts are going to set up your chart of accounts, in part due to this information that you’re providing.

05:51

So I’m going to say next, and what else do we got? What do you want to set up next? So invoice customers, track receipts and bills. So I’m going to go ahead and skip that for now. I’m not going to invoice I’m not going to customize the invoice at this point in time we’ll go with just kind of a standard invoicing, what is everything you want to set up your choice help build your setup guide, you can still use every part of QuickBooks. So this is kind of going to help you to you know with the guide to be setting up, but you should be able to have access to everything once you’re in the system here. So organize money in and out invoice customers track receipts.

06:29

So we want to basically do all this stuff, pay employees ad sales, accept online payments, in turn, pay bills track time, we don’t really need that manage inventory, maybe protect my business with insurance, I won’t do that for now I’m thinking they might try to sell me something if I check that one off. So I’m gonna say done on that one. And then we then have our QuickBooks file set up.

06:54

So I’m going to close this out and then down here on our chart of accounts under the accounting tab on the left hand side, we got the chart of accounts up top, and we want to see your chart of accounts. So there’s the chart of accounts that they have provided for us note that it doesn’t have any account numbers currently assigned to it.

07:12

So in future lesson lectures, we’ll talk we’ll talk about what it looks like when we don’t have account numbers, which is kind of the default because account numbers can confuse things, and then how to add account numbers and how to basically do so correctly so that they’re actually helpful and they don’t cause problems as you add the account numbers.
